It is with regret the Aquathlon which was scheduled for 19th July and the additional swim sessions that were due to take place during the summer holidays have been cancelled. This decision was based on the previous attendance at these events and the availability of club members during July and August. The last swim session before the summer break will now be Sunday 31st July with the new season starting on Sunday 30th August. We apologise for any disappointment this may cause.
Saturday 11th July
After many years of waiting the club is now in the fantastic position to establish an identity by introducing a new club kit. To mark this momentous occasion and to ensure the kit is ready for the start of the swim season in September the club have organised an event on Saturday 11th July at Cotleigh Village Hall starting at 17:30hrs when the kit will be launched. To support this occasion the club have also organised a presentation by a nutritionist who will provide members with an insight into healthy eating and living.
The club recognise this is a late notice announcement but due to the ordering time frames we urge parents to support this event so swimmers can be measured for sizing and for orders to be placed. It is envisaged the event will last no more than 2 hours and members are encouraged to bring along refreshments for their own consumption.
The kit will comprise of a top, shorts, hoody and full tracksuit with a discounted price of £45 for members who are 14 and under and £55 for all other members. This represents a 50% discount on the purchase costs which has been made possible by grants and fundraising events. The club will strive to maintain this discount in the future but will need the help of all members to organise and support future fundraising events to make this possible.
We are also keen to introduce some form of buy-back scheme in order to support the regular size changes of our members. Details of this have yet to be confirmed but any suggestions on how this can be supported would be welcomed.
Please come along to this special occasion so we can process orders at the earliest opportunity.
20th May 2015
Taunton Deane’s Summer Level 3 Meet takes place in Weston-Super-Mare on 11th/12th July. Although this is a level 3 gala there are no qualifying times, only upper time limits, and so this is suitable for all swimmers aged 9 and above. Swimmers from Honiton have attended this gala for the past 4 or 5 years and have always enjoyed it so please do take part if you can. The closing date for this gala is 12th June so please could all entries be forwarded to Sarah Lilley by 2nd June in order for them to be processed in time. Please make cheques payable to Honiton Swimming Club and ensure you have included times on your entry forms.
Congratulations to everyone who took part in the Exmouth Rosette Gala last Sunday. It was great to see so many younger swimmers overcoming their nerves and enjoying themselves and also to see loads of PB’s and a couple of club records as well. A BIG WELL DONE to everyone who took part.

4th July 2015
The club has been invited to attend Sidvale Sharks end of season team gala which is being held in Sidmouth on Saturday 4th July. This is a great event for all our swimmers, no matter of their age or standard, so we are hoping we can take a large team along to enjoy the experience. Please consider taking part in both the individual and relay events as these are perfect for developing team spirit and camaraderie. There is no cost to enter the event, just a £2 entry fee for spectators to help cover the cost of the pool hire. There will also be a BBQ afterwards with burgers, hotdogs and soft drinks.
Please return your completed forms to Sarah Lilley by Sunday 24th May.
Regrettably, the response from the recent club survey was very disappointing with only a small amount completed by parents/guardians during the AGM, and a nil return from the online request.
The survey was designed to assess the future desires of swimmers and gain feedback on what can be done to improve the club structure. The club was particularly interested to hear from parents/guardians in order to gain an understanding of the issues they face which prevent more pool hours and attendance at galas. Without this feedback the Committee will now have to determine whether it is viable to continue with some of the morning/evening sessions as there is insufficient evidence to support future requirements. Unfortunately, once sessions are stopped it is extremely unlikely the club will be able to secure them in the future……. in other words once they are gone they’re gone, so we urge both swimmers and parents to complete the survey form (click link below) and return to the Club Secretary by Friday 15th May.
Please remember, the Committee are striving to make the club a enjoyable experience where swimmers can learn and develop, but we need your help to achieve this.
26th April 2015
As highlighted at the Presentation Event the committee would value your views on the club structure and what we can do to influence swimmers to commit more hours in the pool. Without this feedback the club cannot plan for the future or make changes which will support our members.
Please remember, we need your honest feedback, whether positive or negative, in order to determine what needs to be done. Ideally we would like to hear the views of both swimmers and parents in order to gain an overall perspective from all concerned.
Please find the survey link below which we would ask you to return to Ralph Lynch by Friday 1st May.
REMEMBER – THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO TELL US WHAT YOUR THINK AND WHAT YOU WANT

Saturday 25th April 2015
Just a reminder about the Presentation and AGM event that is taking place on Saturday 25th April at Cotleigh Village Hall. This year the event format has been changed to accommodate our younger swimmers and to make it more attractive to parents. With this in mind the following has been implemented:
- Event will start at 4.00pm in order to finish at an earlier time for our younger swimmers
- Presentations will be combined for female/male category winners and will be announced using an electronic medal podium display
- Entertainment will be provided to younger swimmers during the AGM (kindly organised by our older members)
Please do not forget the AGM is an essential part of the clubs constitution and we need all members to attend in order to communicate our current progress and future plans, which will include the unveiling of our new club kit design and clothing range.
As always we need your assistance with the event refreshments so please let us know how you can help by recording your name and food description on the noticeboard list.
The full address details for the event are:
Cotleigh Village Hall, Cotleigh, Honiton, Devon EX14 9HJ
We look forward to seeing you at the event.
